The Block Co. was born from my passion for food, wine, entertaining, cheese and great conversation with friends, new and old. A self-proclaimed foodie if you will.
I left my career in the restaurant industry and was a stay at home dad for almost a year. That was the hardest job I ever had! I decided it was time to open my own place. I started working on my business plan for a coffee shop with a private chef in the back room for private food experiences.
While working on it I would have a glass of wine and my favourite snack: cheese and sub-par charcuterie. It was so hard to find good charcuterie and cheese unless you made the big trip out to a cheese farm or to Mennonite owned shops.
At that moment, it clicked. So, I started sourcing out charcuterie and cheese. I went back to school to study cheese. (I’m not even joking – I literally went to George Brown College and studied Formagia)
I was all in.
